We decided to go canyoning very last minute while on our way to Nikko. We booked with Jumbo and could not have asked for a better experience. He was a wonderful guide, ensuring our safety and enjoyment throughout! The equipment was high quality and kept us warm on a cold rainy day. We would recommend Nikko Jumbo to everyone!

We have never been canyoning and didn’t know what to expect but wow! Jumbo was the perfect tour guide and this is probably the most memorable family activity in Japan. Jumbo was great at communicating and focused on making sure everyone had a safe and fun time even the non-athletic ones(me). All equipment was provided with warm showers at home base.

We enjoyed the scenic beauty of Japan but this experience allowed us to become immersed in it. Jumbo even took all the photos for us and airdropped them to us. Part of our fun was his genuine warmth and humor. He even gave us a ride back to the train when he found out we were going to take the bus!

Highly recommend Jumbo as a fantastic guide!

My girlfriend and I are visiting Japan from the US. We're pretty outdoorsy but have never been canyoning before. We looked up fun outdoor excursions to do while staying in Nikko and Jumbos tours popped up and seemed like a fun time.

It was just us 2 and Jumbo and it was quite possibly our favorite tourist activity we have done anywhere that we've been. He is very positive and social, while also very proficient and safety oriented when it comes to communicating, knowledge of tge river and setting up rope systems. Touring with Jumbo seemed like hanging out with a friend. The river and the surrounding scenery are absolutely stunning. I found this much more fun and fulfilling than simply going to one of the big waterfalls and looking at it. Literally being in the waterfall and enjoying the nature was amazing. I would highly recommend the canyoning tour to adventurous people visiting Nikko. Especially if you find simply looking at a shrine or waterfall a little mundane. Why not get in it with Jumbo!

The guide is super friendly and takes the photos for you, so you don't have to carry a cell phone and run the risk of it getting lost or damaged in the water. It includes transportation to the place and back, they can take you to the station, the tour It is English, we were very happy and the price is 10/10

In one word: Amazing.
We arrived at Nikko in early October with light rain across all days. This experience with Jumbo showed us the beauty of Nikko's nature. We jumped,zipplined, rappelled, and swam in a beautiful river. It was an amazing experience, and I'm grateful that Jumbo organized everything on an hour's notice. Jumbo is a professional guide and accommodated all our requests and questions. It's an experience worth having on sunny days and not so perfect conditions such as light rain.

I used it during my stay in Kinugawa in August.Due to the busy summer vacation period, I was unable to get my first choice.
Mr. Jumbo is making ends meet by himself.
We will take the train to Nikko and pick you up from the station. Participate in canyoning for beginners.
Slippery areas, areas to be careful of, behavior, etc.
Please explain it to me very carefully.
After all, the Urami Falls and river are clear and beautiful! We had a wonderful view and experience.
The price is high at 10,000 yen, but he was very polite and valued every encounter.
They also gave me photos and videos, and it was a wonderful experience. To prevent injuries, I had to wear a wet suit, a life jacket, a harness, and other equipment that I was not used to, so it was difficult to walk and I couldn't lift my legs very much, so I think it was a good option for beginners. thank you very much.

The experience was far beyond what I expected, the place is incredible beauty, just being part of nature, losing track of time and just enjoying everything. Being present. And then you got an amazing person which made my adventure even more stunning!! Jumbo is such a nice and incredible guy!! I definitely recommend canyoning with him, you're gonna feel secure, have a wonderful time and good chatting (and good music while you are preparing for the adventure)

Before we started, I watched a video to see what we would be doing, and at first I was so scared that I thought about quitting, but when I actually tried it, it was very rewarding and I felt a sense of accomplishment!
With the encouragement of Jumbo and other people in the group I ran with, I was able to complete the race successfully! I was able to experience something that I would never normally do, and I'm really glad I went canyonening.
I would like everyone to try it out at least once.

It was our first time participating as a family of four, and our first canyoning experience, but we were equipped with proper equipment and Jumbo's explanations and guidance were easy to follow, so we were able to enjoy the experience without having to worry about it.
I was surprised at how cold the water was even in the summer, but it made me feel lighter.
Although we were with people from other groups, there was a sense of unity and it was a lot of fun.

Fantastic adventure! The canyon was beautiful and Jumbo was the perfect guide. He spoke great English and took care of all the preparations to make the whole experience safe and exhilarating. He also took pictures and videos through out the whole trip. Absolutely make this part of your Nikko itinerary. I couldn’t recommend it enough.

My husband and I took a canyoning tour in June 2023 and we loved it!!!

Jumbo San made sure we had all the right gears and guided us really well. He also kept helping us to take photos and videos, even wiping the lens to ensure there were no water droplets.

The water was really very fresh and the wetsuit provided kept us sufficiently warm.

Read online that other tour places will cancel if the minimum number of pax was not met. Glad that Jumbo went ahead although it was just the two of us.

We really had a good time and was the highlight of our trip!

I am a virgin at canyoning but Jumbo San was super gentle with me.

He started by telling us that the hardest part of canyoning was wearing the suit. He was right

Then we took a short and fun walk up the canyon. Climbed small rocks and streams. Dipped into the nice cool waters.

The spring waters taste super fresh.

Then came the sliding. Wow, it was super fun. Much much more fun than. Theme park.

Jumbo San was very detailed in our safety briefing and was very caring all the way.

It might look bumpy and all but the thick padding from the wet suit kept me safe.

My best time spent this trip!

The nature of Nikko is wonderful! I really enjoyed playing while feeling the momentum and power of the water flow! The children were alive. I was desperate. It was great fun. The two guides were very nice people. Safety considerations and preparations were thorough. I would like to participate again and recommend it to everyone.

10 times more fun than you can imagine! ! It's so fun that you should participate if you're lost. However, my muscles are sore (laughs).

It seems that you need to close your eyes and mouth and hold your breath just before you fall into the water on the slider. If I didn't do it at first, my contacts would come off.

But it was so much fun that I forgot the time and had fun!

The guide's personality is good, and I got a lot of photos, which made it a good memory!

One of the best experiences I had in Japan! We chose the 3 hour beginner half day course and had a blast going down all of the waterfalls! Our instructor used to work in New Zealand and spoke English which was super helpful as we only had a few japanese speakers in our group. Highly recommend going here while in Nikko!

It was a lot of fun!!
My husband and I experienced it at the beginning of August. Unfortunately, the weather was rainy and the temperature was low, but the other people who made the reservation were all together, and we started with 6 people who were experiencing canyoning for the first time and our guide, Mr. Jumbo. When I entered the river, I felt that the water current was stronger than I imagined, but the course started with a simple dive, and I progressed while getting used to my body and mind. Or slide through unbelievably strong currents.
Each time, I was able to do it to the end by explaining my posture and points to note in an easy-to-understand manner. We had a wonderful experience!

I have experienced it in different places, but the canyoning in Nikko was very exciting because there was a pretty intense slider!!!
Jumbo's guide was also very fun
The weather was rainy so I was worried if I would enjoy it, but with the fun guide and the beauty of nature, I didn't even realize it was raining.

One of the leading canyoning spots in Nikko. Our guide, Mr. Jumbo, is friendly and kind to us. It's a small number of people, so it's a homey atmosphere. During the tour, you can enjoy canyoning with peace of mind as you will receive detailed care such as lectures on how to walk, hand signs, and hearings about your health condition. Apparently there is also a one-day course, but this time I went on a half-day three-hour tour, diving near the basin of a waterfall and enjoying a natural waterslide. Full of local fun such as drinking natural spring water on the way!

Canyoning is not just my profession—it’s my passion. I spend my free time exploring new canyons and guiding adventurous tours.

I was first captivated by guiding at NAOC (Nature Adventure Outdoor Club, a leading outdoor tour company in Nikko), which inspired me to pursue a career in canyoning. Later, I became the head guide of the canyoning division at Canyons (a well-known adventure tour operator in Japan).

At their Okutama branch (a popular outdoor area west of Tokyo), I served as deputy manager, handling everything from carpentry to overall site management.

I also have international guiding experience, having worked in New Zealand, one of the world’s top canyoning destinations.

In 2018, I founded Nikko Jumbo (our own canyoning company based in Nikko) and now serve as its director. I’m passionate about helping people discover the hidden natural beauty of Nikko that many travelers have yet to experience.
